Historic campaign is most successful in hospital's history

The Heroes for Life campaign to create Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago ended on December 31, 2012. Thanks to the generosity of more than 250,000 donors, the eight-year campaign was one of the nation's most successful on behalf of children's health, and the most successful in the hospital's history. In addition to creating Lurie Children's, the comprehensive campaign was critical in raising the needed funding for programs, services and the recruitment of leaders in pediatric medicine and research. Lurie Children's, formerly Children's Memorial Hospital, moved from its 130-year home in the Lincoln Park neighborhood to downtown Chicago on June 9, 2012.

Lurie Children's is located on the campus of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, next to Prentice Women's Hospital and in close proximity to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Since the move, Lurie Children's has recruited more than 53 top pediatric specialists and more than doubled its research capabilities.

The campaign was guided by individuals who care deeply about the health and well-being of children. Together, we are transforming pediatric medicine and science in Chicago at Lurie Children's, located on the campus of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, next to Prentice Women's Hospital and in close proximity to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Together, these institutions form a nucleus of world-class medical excellence and create an unprecedented resource for our city and the region.

Thanks to our location, we are able to draw as never before on the expertise of specialists in every field, of adult as well as children's medicine. Lurie Children's also enables us to enhance that expertise by attracting new leaders to our staff of renowned pediatric specialists and nurses. They have at their disposal the most advanced technology and work in a setting designed specifically to address the most difficult medical challenges that threaten the well-being of children.

Lurie Children's serves as a place that helps children and families heal together. Space, amenities and convenience are its hallmarks, and no detail has been overlooked in enhancing the environment of personal care.
