Matt Bayer and Joyce Yaung, both alumni from the University of Michigan, did not meet until many years after they had graduated and were living in Chicago. By that time Joyce was working at an educational foundation and Matt had grown his childhood interest in baseball cards into a company that was North America’s largest distributor of trading cards.
Today, MJ Holding remains the largest North American distributor of trading cards (Topps, Upperdeck, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic the Gathering), toys and collectibles. The company has since diversified and grown into manufacturing and distributing collectibles, toys, and hot trend items such as slime and squishies. The company provides retail supply chain category management to over 8,000 retail locations and is in over 25,000 points of distributions in North America.
Together, Matt and Joyce live in the Gold Coast where they live with their preschooler, twin toddlers and rescue dog who is cuter than he is nice. They share a deep love for friends and family, a mutual interest in wine, art, sports, their alma mater, and in supporting cultural, social and civic causes in a spirit of compassion and inclusiveness.
