60th Annual Children’s Ball Saturday, December 1, 2018
We are thrilled to share that the Children's Ball, co-chaired by Chris Keogh, Holly and Matt Maloney, and Trish Rooney, raised a record-breaking $3.8 million to benefit the Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute at Lurie Children's. The funds raised will go towards the Children's Research Fund's ongoing five-year, $10 million commitment to support the full spectrum of vital research conducted at the Manne Research Institute.
The event was held on Saturday, December 1, at the Hilton Chicago. More than 1100 guests came together to celebrate the 2018 Children's Ball theme, “I'm in,” which reminded guests of the importance of continuing to be “all in” for the patients and families treated at Lurie Children’s.
The evening began with a lavish cocktail reception and gourmet hors d'oeuvres for attendees to enjoy while experiencing a lively performance from former Lurie Children's patient, Matthew Jazwinski and his jazz quartet. The night continued with entertainment by the Becca Kaufman Orchestra, an elegant seated dinner, and remarks from board and hospital leaders.
A few highlights from this year's program included a moving dance performance from Lurie Children's patient Ava Blaser and her sister Emma, as well as an inspirational video featuring patients Zinnia and Lainee Jones, both of whom are being treated at Lurie Children's for beta thalassemia, a rare genetic blood disorder.
