Mission Statement: The mission of the Children’s Research Fund Junior Board is to support pediatric medical research being conducted at the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute, affiliated with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
Founded in 1992: The Children’s Research Fund Junior Board is an Illinois not-for-profit organization and serves as a junior board to the Children’s Research Fund. The Children’s Research Fund, an affiliate organization of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, has been raising funds for medical research in Chicago since the 1950s.
Board Members: The Children’s Research Fund Junior Board has 75 members consisting of young professionals in the Chicago metropolitan area, ranging in age from mid-20s to the mid-30s. The Board Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month.
Fundraising: To date, the Children’s Research Fund Junior Board has raised nearly $2 Million for the pediatric medical research initiatives of the Manne Research Institute, affiliated with Lurie Children’s.
The Hospital: Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is recognized as one of the top pediatric hospitals in the country and the only pediatric hospital in Illinois to achieve Honor Roll status in rankings published by US News & World Report. Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago’s 1,300 pediatric specialists focus on more than 70 specialties in 11 outpatient centers and 15 partner hospitals. As Illinois’ only freestanding hospital dedicated to children, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago treated over 173,000 children in 2016. Due to ongoing community support for quality medical services, the hospital invested over $127 million for community benefit programs in 2015, enabling families of all economic status to obtain the best medical treatment for their children.
Events Benefiting Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago: The Children’s Research Fund Junior Board has hosted many well-attended social and educational events in the Chicago metropolitan area to help raise significant funds for research. Our Annual Spring Event, various special events, and our signature Cocktails for a Cause Event (CFC) combined typically raise around $100,000 each year.
