Founded over half a century ago, the Children’s Service Board is one of the oldest and most successful philanthropic affiliated organizations of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. The Children’s Service Board’s mission is to champion the Hospital through engagement and philanthropy, stewardship and fundraising, and volunteerism.
Our membership is comprised of talented, committed women from diverse educational and professional backgrounds who support Lurie Children’s and its belief of providing excellent and compassionate care to all children. The Children’s Service Board fundraises each year through various initiatives including: the Gold Coast Fashion Show, Move for Kids, and Annual Appeal.
The Children’s Service Board’s most recent fundraising campaigns include:
Our current campaign focuses on fundraising $3 million for the Department of Family Services, specifically funding the Child Life Specialist in the CCU. The Department of Family Services is funded entirely through philanthropy, and includes a number of essential programs that help normalize the hospital experience and help speed healing by letting kids be kids. Family Services includes such professionals as child life specialists, social workers, art and music therapists, teachers, non-denominational chaplains, interpreters and activity coordinators. Special spaces include the treatment-free Family Life Center, home of the in-house Skylight TV channel, the Cubs Classroom, an infant and toddler playroom, a teen lounge and an art room. Most importantly, Family Services aligns with clinical teams to provide the best possible care and experience for patients and their families. Find out more.
