Welcome to My Personal Page

I run for Lurie’s to give back to the hospital that saved my baby girl Emma.

In 2016, my husband and I heard the words that no parent ever envisions hearing, “Your daughter has a large mass in her brain.” And then days later, the even scarier words, “The tumor is malignant.” Even though we were scared, the team at Lurie Children’s was incredible at guiding us through every stage of the process. The lines of communication were wide open with Dr. Lulla, Emma's oncologist, which is incredibly reassuring when your three-year-old is battling cancer. Even more important than his ability to work with us as parents was his unbelievable ability to relate to and interact with Emma. Emma adores Dr. Lulla and he became more than just a doctor to Emma and our family. And it wasn't just the physicians that were incredible but every staff person we encountered.

I can think of no better way to give back than running the 2018 Chicago Marathon for Lurie Children’s. Everything raised by Team Emma will go to the brain tumor program, right into the hands of the team that saved Emma and the team capable of doing the research needed to prevent future families from going through what we went through. It’s hard to come up with the appropriate words to express our gratitude to Emma’s care team and to Lurie Children’s. But since actions speak louder than words, I run and I fundraise. And when it’s hot or I'm tired and I don’t feel like running, I think about everything that Emma endured. Pediatric cancer is not a pleasant experience but we are so very grateful that we had Lurie Children’s to guide our family through it.

All donations are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged by Lurie Children’s Foundation.

On behalf of the patients and families of Lurie Children’s, thank you for your support!
