Aaron's Coffee Corner

Hi!  Thanks for checking out Aaron's Coffee Corner! We started on September 3, 2018, and look how far we have come!  We are so grateful to everyone that has contributed!

Please join our family in making a difference for the families of critically ill patients cared for at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.

Our family is raising funds through Lurie Children’s Circle of Friends program to support Aaron's Coffee Corner, a program that  provides 24/7 access to free, fresh, quality coffee in the Family Great Room of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit on the 16th floor.

Join our effort to bring the smallest of comforts to all those that care for critically ill kids whether they are parents, guardians, caregivers, family or friends.

Proximity is key!  No one wants to  miss a doctor drop-in for an early morning progress check. Or, maybe there are  concerns about the often unpredictable timing of daily rounds.  Or, worst case scenario, your child just isn't doing very well.   You can help provide a little peace of mind and a   sense of security and comfort by helping us make sure there is access to a fresh cup of coffee just steps away.

They call it a Family Great Room - let’s make sure families and their support team know that we think they are GREAT!

Join us  in acknowledging their commitment, tenacity, courage and  strength.

With your help we can provide a sense of comfort and familiarity in a far too unfamiliar place.

Every dollar counts when it comes to the health and happiness of children.  All donations are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged by Lurie Children’s Foundation. On behalf of the patients and families of Lurie Children’s, thank you for your support.

Aaron turns 14!
It's hard to believe that Aaron not only graduated Caruso Middle School this month but also turned 14!
We are so grateful to our friends and family that come out, even in the pouring rain, to celebrate Aaron on his birthday.
Without this group of great human beings our family would never be able to manage the ins and outs of caring for a medically fragile child.
We are so appreciative of all the doctors, nurses, therapists, teachers, friends and family that have gotten Aaron to his 14th year. We love you all!

CBS2 New Story
It's Saturday January 5th and it's been a very exciting day! Thanks to Jeremy Ross and Jeff Flanagan at CBS2 local news we got some help spreading the word about what Aaron's Coffee Corner is doing!

We are forever grateful to Keurig for answering my letter and helping us start this movement to bring free, fresh, quality coffee just steps away from people that could really use a cup of comfort any time of the day or night!
We would also like to give a shout out to the communications staff at Lurie Children's to help make this opportunity possible.

Caruso Middle School ROCKS!
Aaron's Coffee Corner was presented with a check from the Caruso Middle School Student Council today, December 24, 2018 for $11,062.42! Aaron's Coffee Corner was the selected recipient of the school's annual FUNdraiser. Over a month of fundraising that included lollipops, clout glasses, apparel, water bottles a fantastic carnival and just plain old kindness. It has been a great honor to be part of such a fantastic school district and for Aaron to be surrounded by such a wonderful group of peers and pals. We had no idea that their effort would not only help us reach our goal but surpass it by over $6000. What a gift. We are forever grateful to the students of Caruso Middle School. Their efforts will play a huge role in providing a daily dose of comfort for the parents, friends and caregivers of seriously ill children. #proud #goals #carusoway

Ceremonial First Brew on the 16th floor!
Today we were lucky enough to have a plaque dedication and ceremonial "first brew" with family and friends at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Lurie Children's Hospital.
We are thrilled to see the project coming together and know accessible, fresh quality coffee is already making an impact on families that are currently on the 16th floor.
We are so very luck to be able to help others who are now traveling on the same path we have journeyed before them.
Thank you to all who have donated to date and to all that continue to support our mission. What a great day!

WOW and Thank You All
We have great news - we have been overwhelmed by the success of these first few days and have decided to increase our goal!
We estimate it will cost about a $100 a day to run the program and that means about $3000 a month so by increasing our goal to $18,000 we are hoping to establish the worth of the program in 6 months. As we move forward we will continue to analyze the success of the program and hope to make it a permanent part of Lurie Children's hospital.
Help us make the difference in families and caregivers lives as they support their remarkable kids every day.
18 is the number Chai in the Hebrew language and the word Chai means "life." We think we are on the right track!
If you have already donated, THANK YOU and if you know someone that might want to participate in our efforts please forward our information!
