Marathon Team 2017

Cheers, Beers, and Not Quite 40 Years!

Welcome to our page and thanks for the support.   We started out a while back doing a few races, trying to get in better shape, and enjoying the excitement of crossing the finish lines at these big racing events.   The T-shirts, sweatshirts, free beer, and cool medals at the finish lines were all added bonuses.   Do we have a sense of accomplishment?  Absolutely.  We've done 5K, 10Ks, 15Ks, Polar Dashes, Monster Dashes, Ditka Dashes, Fun Runs, Beers Runs, Quarter Marathons, Half Marathons, and everything in between...   but we've never gone past 13.1 miles.   One day, while drinking, we jokingly said we should do the big one, a full marathon, 26.2 miles.  There was a silence.   Then one of us said "I'll do it if you will."   There was more silence, followed by a few long sips of beer, and then there was a high five.  And here we are!   This year marks not only the 40th anniversary of the Chicago Marathon, but it's also the year we both turn 40 years old.   We figured we pretty much have to do this.  We chose to join the Lurie Children's Marathon Team for several reasons.  It's a great cause, and they do save kids lives every single day!

Make a difference in the lives of the more than 173,000 patients treated at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago each year. Support our efforts for the 2017 Lurie Children's Marathon Team by making a gift today. Every dollar raised means a brighter and healthier future for our children.

Here are just a few ways your donations could help:

$35 can provide a comfort item for a premature infant to ensure the smallest and most fragile babies heal and grow faster.

$60 can help provide inpatient entertainment and distractions to help patients reduce stress and have fun while undergoing treatment.

$120 can help provide small lab supplies for one of the hospital’s clinical trials to ensure our children have access to the latest treatments and therapies.

$240 can help provide supplies for the Lurie Children’s classroom so that children in the hospital can continue their education.

All donations are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged by Lurie Children’s Foundation.

On behalf of the patients and families of Lurie Children’s, thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Joe and Sue
