Sept is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month! Help Me Honor My Cousin Nick!
Hi. My Name is Evan Blake. I am a 7th Grader at St. Mikes. My cousin Nick was diagnosed with stage 4 Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS) when he was 1. This cancer is extremely rare, with only 350 cases in the United States per year. Due to the stage and type of cancer Nick had, his treatments were aggressive, and he fought a good fight. My cousin Nick lost his battle with cancer on May 3rd. He would have been 3 in June. Through it all, Nick always had a smile on his face. They Nurses at Lurie's Nicknamed him smiley! Nick loved eating desserts before his meals. He loved his family! and he loved all things Disney, especially the movie Cars.
I want to honor my cousin Nick and make a difference for some of the cancer patients cared for at Lurie's this month. I want others to know these kids fight hard and deserve hope. I asked if our funds could go to Dr. Walterhouse's research on ARMS through Luries Circle of Friends Foundation. I appreciate your help in raising funds this month to honor all these kids fighting.
Every dollar counts when it comes to the health and happiness of children. All donations are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged by Lurie Children’s Foundation. On behalf of the patients and families of Lurie Children’s, thank you for your support.
