Welcome to My Personal Page

When I was 7 days old I stopped eating. My Mom brought me to our doctor, who then sent me to the local ER for tests. They didn't know it yet, but I suffer from congenital heart disease and I had an undiagnosed coarctation of my aorta which was rapidly closing. Without medicine & surgery, I would soon die.

The doctors and nurses at the ER drilled into my arms & legs in an attempt to try and get medicine into me to stop my heart from closing but nothing was working. Finally the EMT team from Lurie's arrived and they were able to put an IV into my head to administer medicine that would keep my heart open until a surgeon could repair the portion that was too small. My mom & I took an ambulance to Lurie's where an astonishing number of doctors and specialists awaited our arrival. Two days later I had heart surgery to correct my coarctation. I spent an additional 2.5 weeks recovering on the cardiac floor before going home.

Over the last (almost) 6 years, I have meet with countless cardiologists, psychologists, physical therapists, cognitive development therapists, hearing specialist, and the like. I've been told my development is right on track, despite my rough start in this world. I currently only need to see my cardiologist once a year and I've been given the "all clear" in terms of any activities in which I want to participate. Today I swim, I play basketball, soccer and baseball, and I love to run as fast as The Flash. Lurie's has made all the difference in my life, and in the lives of my family.

My 6th birthday is 4 days before the race this year. If you’d like to help me celebrate, there is nothing I’d like more than to have you join me, in body or in spirit, in this fundraiser.

Make a difference in the lives of nearly 213,000 patients treated at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago each year. Support my efforts for the 2019 Move for Kids, by making a gift today. Every dollar raised means a brighter and healthier future for our children.

Here are just a few ways your donations could help:

$35 can provide a comfort item for a premature infant to ensure the smallest and most fragile babies heal and grow faster.

$60 can help provide inpatient entertainment and distractions to help patients reduce stress and have fun while undergoing treatment.

$120 can help provide small lab supplies for one of the hospital's clinical trials to ensure our children have access to the latest treatments and therapies.

$240 can help provide supplies for the Lurie Children's classroom so that children in the hospital can continue their education.

All donations are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged by Lurie Children's Foundation.

On behalf of the patients and families of Lurie Children's, thank you for your support!
