Josefina Navar - I'm running for Diego the Lion
Diego was our sweet little boy. He loved cuddling and dancing. His favorite song was Gangnam Style. He danced to that song even when he was feeling so sick from chemo. He also loved all things Mickey Mouse. We gave him the nickname Diego the Lion because he displayed so much strength and bravery despite his tender age and unfortunate circumstances.
We no longer get to cuddle with or shower our little boy with love, but thankfully his spirit continues to move us to do good in his honor. We lost our son, but continue to fight against pediatric brain tumors in hopes of saving other children and families from experiencing the same fate.
On July 2018, I will participate in the Young Associates Board’s (YAB) 16th annual Run for Gus 5K Run/1 Mile Walk, which raises funds to advance research and support services at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago for patients with brain tumors.
Pediatric brain tumors are the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children and are fatal for almost half of those diagnosed. Yet, only $1 million is given annually for pediatric brain tumor research by government agencies. YAB has raised more than $1.5 million to date to further this lifesaving cause.
Please support my efforts by making a gift today! Any amount will make a difference, and all donations are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged by Lurie Children’s Foundation.
With your help, more children battling brain tumors can receive the best healthcare possible and the opportunity to reach their greatest potential. Thank you!
