In memory of Diego the Lion

My little boy, Diego, was diagnosed with an aggressive brain/spinal tumor when he was only 8 months old. His tumor had already metastasized to his spine at diagnosis. He passed away when he was just 2 years old.  I’ve seen first hand what brain tumors do to children and families. It’s not pretty. It’s ugly, treacherous and more than any child or family should ever have to bear. We all have so much to gain from helping and also so much to lose by not.  More awareness and funding for research is desperately needed.

On July 25, 2019, I will participate in the Young Associates Board’s (YAB) 17th annual Run for Gus 5K Run/1 Mile Walk, which raises funds to advance research and support services at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago for patients with brain tumors.

Pediatric brain tumors are the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children and are fatal for almost half of those diagnosed. Yet, only $1 million is given annually for pediatric brain tumor research by government agencies. YAB has raised more than $1.5 million to date to further this lifesaving cause.

Please support my efforts by making a gift today! Any amount will make a difference, and all donations are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged by Lurie Children’s Foundation.

With your help, more children battling brain tumors can receive the best healthcare possible and the opportunity to reach their greatest potential. Thank you!
