Welcome to My Personal Page

As most of you have heard or come to know through social media, my daughter Lily was diagnosed with high risk acute myeloid leukemia just three days before her second birthday. Lily logged over 100 nights down at Lurie Children’s hospital during her courageous battle.

Unfortunately, there was a period in time when Lily spent more nights on the 17th floor of Luries than she did at home. When it was my turn to stay overnight with Lily, I met some wonderful parents who were experiencing the same fear, uncertainty, and anxiety my family was going through. During tough moments on 17, at times I could only muster a nod or a very soft hello when I would pass other parents in the hallway. This was not the ideal place to make friends. During Lily's last couple days, I met Kyle Finke who was there to care for his one-year old daughter Emma. Sadly, Emma passed away in February of 2018. Kyle and his wife Sadie are rock stars and have been working tirelessly to prevent other families from having to endure the pain they have experienced. They are an example of what good people do with grief.

On July 25, 2019, I will participate in the Young Associates Board’s (YAB) 17th annual Run for Gus 5K Run/1 Mile Walk, which raises funds to advance research and support services at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago for patients with brain tumors. This will be my first 5k in about 15 years. I joined the Emma’s Memory team so that I can run to honor Lily, Brier, Rory, Greyson, and Emma P (another Emma). I will also be running in memory of Emma, Maddie, Brooks, Pat Mac, and Danny O’Brien.
