Step Up for Kids 2021
To optimize safety, event attendees should ensure they do not have any respiratory symptoms and have not travelled to high risk areas in the last 14 days. If you anticipate any future travel in advance of the event, please stay abreast on travel advisories here: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices. Lurie Children’s is continuing to work closely with the Illinois and Chicago Departments of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and follow their guidance on infection control measures as they evolve. We will continue to update our guidelines as more information becomes available.
×To ensure the safety of our participants and staff, this year’s Step Up for Kids will look a little different. You will climb, step and move in your own home or neighborhood, track your steps and celebrate reaching your goals with a virtual event. Please reach out to your event coordinator with any questions at tmccartan@luriechildrens.org

Step Up for Kids
Countless lives changed.
When a child you care about is in the hospital, you would do anything to make them feel better. At Aon Step Up for Kids, presented by KPMG, every step taken and dollar raised supports the Department of Family Services at Lurie Children’s so that kids are happy and families are supported. From your first step to your last, you’ll be challenged, inspired and celebrated. Challenge yourself to get 10,000 steps per day for the month of January, or climb 80 flight of stairs on your own, and join us for this year’s Step Up for Kids!

Patient Champion
Every year, a Lurie Children’s patient takes the first steps and serves as our inspiration.
In fall 2019, Jaquez started out his senior year of high school with the intention of playing football, basketball and baseball, celebrating at prom in the spring and graduating with his classmates. But by October, he started missing school due to a persistent cough that medication couldn’t help.

Virtual Step Up To The Moon
How we will get to the moon:
This is where the Step Up for Kids “mission control” will track our event community’s progress. Our goal is to get 465 million steps together, enough to step all the way to the moon!
Steps tracked in our app aren’t the only way to help our event’s progress. You can also earn steps by fundraising! Plus, each week certain sponsors will give our steps an extra boost. Stay tuned to your e-mail to learn more. And the bravest astronauts we know – Lurie Children’s patients – will also earn step boosts when they complete various goals in the hospital with their care teams. More info can be found on our event info page.
