Please support the DEHEEGER DASHERS
Hi everyone - Rather than start off with the more general but nonetheless very real and important reasons we are doing this climb, which the event organizers write about, (and which you can find below), in a nutshell, the Deheeger Dashers are once again climbing the 80 stories of the AON building because we lived first-hand the amazing achievements, both medical and personal, that Lurie's Children's makes! As many of you know, our son Marc came down with a profoundly life-threatening virus that attacked his heart when he he was 17 years old, now 13 years ago. This hospital, the doctors and nurses, very literally saved his life, and the family services made our experience there as good as it could possibly have been. That is why we are climbing, and we hope you will donate - even small amounts - to our climb. And if you'd like to join our team and reach out to your own circle of friends for fundraising, please do! If we get 10 team members this year, I will have DEHEEGER DASHERS t-shirts made.... and if that doesn't lure you in, what will?????
Make a difference in the lives of nearly 213,000 patients treated at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago each year.
Help me raise funds in support of the 23rd annual Aon Step Up for Kids! All proceeds benefit the Family Services Department of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago to ensure all patients have access to the highest-quality care. Remember, every dollar raised means a brighter and healthier future for our kids.
Here are just a few ways your donations could help:
$35 can purchase a Beads of Courage starter kit for a child with cancer.
$60 can purchase an adaptive toy for children with special needs and disabilities to use during play and therapy sessions.
$120 can help pay for one day of Skylight TV programming, the hospital's own interactive television station that broadcasts special shows such as "Story Time with Dot" and "Body Parts Bingo" directly to patient rooms.
$240 can help purchase two days of Rainbow Dog pet therapy for patients.
$500 can purchase crayons, markers, paper, paint and other arts and crafts supplies for patients to use throughout the hospital.
$1000 can help provide medical equipment for clinical trials to ensure children have access to the best medical therapies and treatments.
All donations are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged by Lurie Children’s Foundation.
On behalf of the patients and families of Lurie Children’s, thank you for your support!
