About the Lurie Children’s Marathon Team

For the past 17 years, hundreds of runners have come together to run the Bank of America Chicago Marathon while supporting the patients and families at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Throughout their training, runners work towards the required fundraising goal to help ensure a brighter and healthier future for the patients treated at the hospital each year.

Lurie Children’s Marathon Team provides complimentary endurance training for all its runners, customized by experienced coaches to meet the needs of first-time marathoners as well as seasoned runners. Training is supported through weekly group runs and online training plans. Before beginning their programs, runners complete a survey on their experience and endurance level from which individualized plans are developed. Runners also have access to the Race Day Resort on Marathon Day, a dedicated hospitality area for team runners within steps of the start and finish line.
