  1. How much does it cost to join the Lurie Children’s Marathon Team?

    All members of the Lurie Children’s Marathon Team will be responsible for the $50 team fee (paid at time of registration with team) as well as the Bank of America Chicago Marathon fee of $195 ($220 for non-US residents).

  2. Who can buy a special edition Lurie Children’s Marathon Team shirt?

    All participants can purchase a team shirt during the registration process! It's the perfect way to show your Lurie Children’s Marathon Team pride on and off the running path! Our 2017 special edition team shirt is soft, light weight and most importantly stylish.


  1. What is the minimum fundraising amount and what is the deadline to turn in pledges?

    • Runners who joined our team and needed a spot for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon before November 29: $1,000
    • Runners who joined our team on or after November 30 and needed a spot for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon: $1,500*
    • Runners who join our team at any time and secured their own spot for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon either through the lottery, legacy runner, time qualifier: $1,000

    *This option will only be available for a limited time, it is best to secure your spot before November 29 to insure your 2017 Bank of America Chicago Marathon participation.

    Other deadlines have been set to keep runners on track with fundraising:

    • June 1st - 25% of your fundraising minimum (suggested deadline)
    • August 1st - 50% of your fundraising minimum (suggested deadline)
    • September 29 - 75% of your fundraising minimum (firm deadline)
    • November 8 - 100% of your fundraising minimum (firm deadline)
  2. What happens if I do not reach 75% of my goal by September 29?

    If you do not reach 75% of your goal by September 29, you will have your bib held from packet pick up at the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo. In order to have your bib released, you will be required to visit the Lurie Children’s booth at the expo and pay the difference owed or turn in any donations that make up the difference before you are signed off to pick up your race bib.

  3. What happens if I do not reach my minimum fundraising goal by noon on November 8, 2017?

    If your minimum pledge amount is not received on or before November 8, 2017, Lurie Children’s will charge the remaining balance to the runner's credit card. You will be notified before the charge is made. You must guarantee your minimum fundraising amount, with a credit card, at the time of your team registration.

  4. How can my supporters make a donation?

    The fastest and easiest way for your supporters to make a donation on your behalf is to refer them to the personal fundraising page you create on this website. If they prefer, they can write a check to Lurie Children’s Foundation with your name on the memo line and mail it to:

  5. Are donations made on my behalf tax deductible? Will my contributors receive a gift receipt?

    Yes, all donations in which goods or services are not received are 100% tax deductible. The Foundation will send a gift receipt and acknowledgement letter to anyone who makes a donation on behalf of a Lurie Children’s Marathon Team member.

  6. What online fundraising tools are available to Lurie Children’s Marathon Team members?

    After team members create a personal fundraising page, they will gain access to free online tools and tips to help them reach and exceed their fundraising goals. This includes sample e-mail templates, social media posts and images and general fundraising ideas. Visit the Fundraising Tips page for all your fundraising resources.

  7. How can I find out if my company offers a matching gift?

    See if your company has a matching gift program for healthcare organizations. You will need to complete a matching gift form (available from your company's Human Resources department) and send it in with your donation.

  8. How can I check my personal fundraising totals?

    Log in to the Participant Center at any time to track your fundraising progress. When a donation is made online, it is processed automatically and added to your fundraising total. Donations made by check or money order will be processed and counted toward your fundraising total within 15 business days after they are received by Lurie Children’s Foundation.

Items You'll Need for Race Day

  1. When will I receive my Lurie Children’s Marathon Team singlet and t-shirts for friends and family?

    Runners can pick up their singlet at the Kick-Off Party or the Pasta Dinner Celebration. T-shirts for friends and family will be available for pick up at the Pasta Dinner Celebration in October. If you are unable to attend the Kick-Off Party or Pasta Dinner, these items will also be available at the Chicago Marathon Health & Fitness Expo. Singlets can be mailed to out-of-state runners upon request.

  2. When can I pick up my marathon bib number and packet?

    All packets must be picked up in-person by the runner during the Chicago Marathon Health & Fitness Expo (Friday, October 6, 2017 or Saturday October 7, 2017). Every runner is required to pick up their own bibs for safety and security reasons. If you are a runner who has failed to reach 75% of your fundraising by the Expo, your bib will be held and you will need to stop by the Lurie Children’s Marathon Team booth to pay the difference owed before your bib is released.

  1. When is the Bank of America Chicago Marathon?

    The Bank of America Chicago Marathon takes place on Sunday, October 8, 2017.

  2. Does Lurie Children’s host a tent within Charity Village on race day?

    No. For 2017, we will be joining Chicago Endurance Sports at their Race Day Resort at Roosevelt University on Michigan Avenue. Enjoy this climate-controlled and weather-protected area for you and your family and friends. Gear check, easy access to start gates, refreshments and massage therapists are just a few highlights of the resort.
