What can my donation support at Lurie Children’s?
Donations to Lurie Children’s ensure we can continue to be a leader in pediatric medicine and science. Please let your Circle of Friends Coordinator know if you would like to support a specific program, such as one of those listed below.
Your fundraising efforts will make a difference in a child's life
Our Children's Fund supports the highest priorities at Lurie Children's. Your donations to this fund allow us to address the greatest needs of our institution and the patients and families we serve.
Cancer and Blood Disorders
Our Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders treats more children with cancer and blood disorders, such as leukemia and thalassemia, than any other hospital in Illinois. Ranked as Illinois' top pediatric cancer program by US.News & World Report, our team treats 220 new patients each year through highly specialized, comprehensive care that leads to better health outcomes.
Pediatric Brain Tumor Program
In partnership with the Falk Brain Tumor Center, our Pediatric Brain Tumor Program offers highly specialized, state-of the-art care for children with brain and central nervous system tumors. Among the first in country to develop a cohesive, multidisciplinary brain tumor program with specialists and support personnel, our team meets weekly to review cases and develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
Clinical Trials and Research
Through our Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute, experts are conducting clinical trials and research to improve child health today and tomorrow. We are currently conducting more than 235 clinical trials to find new treatments and therapies to improve patients' quality of life in the future.
Critical Care (PICU)
Our Division of Critical Care treats our sickest kids in the Lefkofsky Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The team provides top-quality care using the most recent advancements in equipment and techniques, with special attention to treating children with pulmonary issues, critical care and other specialty needs in a team environment where everyone has a voice.
At Lurie Children's, we are not only focused on treating children's illnesses, but we also are committed to making sure our patients and families are supported mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Programs provided through Family Services include: art and music therapy, language interpreters, chaplain support, school services and other amenities like our Emergency Fund, which enable us to provide the highest quality, family-centered care possible.
Our Heart Center provides care for patients with the most complex and serious heart conditions, such as congenital heart defects and Marfan syndrome. With over 10,000 annual visits, our cardiologists provide care and conduct cardiovascular and heart transplant surgeries for more children with cardiac conditions than any other hospital in Illinois.
Together with Northwestern Medicine and the Prentice Women’s Hospital, our Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians focus on caring for mothers and their babies from the time of diagnosis in the womb. This team meets weekly to review cases and create individualized treatment plans.
Our Division of Neonatology team provides the highest level of care to the most critically ill newborns in the region in our Level Ill Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Through our Follow-Up Clinic, we also provide NICU "graduates" and their families support to address development challenges through adolescence.
The Division of Pediatric Neurology sees one in three children hospitalized at Lurie Children's. More families bring children with neurologic conditions to us for care or for second opinions than to any other single hospital in the state. Our programs include a Level 4 pediatric epilepsy center, the most comprehensive pediatric neuromuscular disorders program in Illinois, one of the largest and most experienced spina bifida centers in the nation, and we are the only pediatric neurology/neurosurgery program in Illinois ranked by US.News & World Report.
