  1. Is my registration fee refundable?

    Registration fees are not refundable under any circumstances including, but not limited to, event cancellation for any reason, natural disaster, severe weather, etc.

  2. What is the registration fee?

    • Adult Runner: $40
    • Adult CARA Runner: $38

    • Kids (4-12): $5
    • Toddler (3 & under): Free

  3. When will online registration close?

    Online registration will close Wednesday, May 16, 2018. You may still register in-person at packet pick-up or the morning of the event.


  1. Why is fundraising a crucial part of the Move for the Kids 5K Walk/Run, presented by C.H. Robinson?

    Fundraising for the event supports more than children cared for at Lurie Children’s each year. Your fundraising efforts will impact the greatest areas of need at the hospital to ensure our patients receive the best care possible! The funds raised through Move for the Kids have been used to provide the best pediatric medical care, pursue cutting edge research and train the brightest young physicians.

  2. What online fundraising tools are available to Move for the Kids participants?

    Each participant can create a personal fundraising page on our event website. We have provided free online tools to help you share your personal story to inspire others to give on your behalf.

  3. How can my supporters make a donation?

    • Send them the link to your personal or team fundraising page
    • They can search for your name or team name
    • If they prefer to write a check, it can be made out to Lurie Children’s Foundation. A donation form must be included with each check so the donor receives credit for the donation. Donation forms may be mailed to:

  4. Are donations made on my behalf tax deductible?

    Yes, all donations in which goods or services are not received are 100% tax deductible. Registration fees for the event are not tax deductible.

  5. Will Lurie Children’s Foundation acknowledge my contributors?

    The Foundation will send a gift receipt and acknowledgement letter to anyone who makes a donation on behalf of a Move for the Kids participant.

  6. How can I find out if my company offers a matching gift?

    First, check to see if your company has a matching gift program for health organizations. The website, can be helpful in determining which companies match donations. Complete a matching gift form (available from your company's Human Resources department) and send it in with your donation.

  7. How can I check my personal fundraising totals or that of my team?

    You track your fundraising efforts via the participant center. This tool allows you to log on and review your pledges any time of the day. When a donation is made online, it is processed automatically and added toward your fundraising goal. Donations made by check or money order will be processed and counted toward your total within 10 business days after it is received by Lurie Children’s Foundation.

  8. What is the deadline to turn in pledges?

    All donations must be received on or before Race day to qualify for incentive prizes. Move for the Kids will continue to accept donations for one month after the event.

Event Details

  1. When and where is the 2018 Move for the Kids 5K Walk/Run?

    The 2018 Move for the Kids 5K Walk/Run will take place on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Soldier Field (map). The event site will open to the public at 9:30 a.m., with the race stepping off at 11:00 a.m.

  2. When and where is packet pick-up?

    Check back for more information.

    • Thursday, June 8 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
    • Friday, June 9 from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

    Packet pick-up will take place at Fleet Feet Sports, Old Town (map). Please note their NEW LOCATION at 1706 North Wells Street, Chicago (two blocks north of former location).

  3. Who can participate in the Grant Thornton 100-meter Kids’ Dash?

    All kids ages 12 and under are welcome to join us for the inaugural Grant Thornton Kids’ Dash. This fun run will begin at 10:30 a.m. with multiple waves/age groups, and will take place on the Stadium Green.

    No additional registration is required, and more information will be available at packet pick-up and the morning of the event.

  4. Can I have guests come and visit me at Move for the Kids?

    Yes! We encourage people to come and cheer you on during the event. Supporters can watch you along the route or meet you at the post-race party on the Stadium Green.

  5. Will there be a gear check?

    Yes. Complimentary gear check will be available on-site. If you plan to check a bag, please allow extra time. Lurie Children’s is not responsible for any lost or stolen items left at the gear check tent.

  6. Are pets allowed on the course?

    No. For safety reasons, pets cannot be on the course. They are allowed at the event site.

  7. Are strollers allowed on the course?

    Yes. Please just be mindful of other participants to keep everyone safe!

  8. Are scooters, skateboards, etc. allowed on the course?

    No. For safety reasons these are not permitted on the course.
