Online registration closes at 12pm on Monday, July 23. Participants can register at Packet Pick-Up or on race day in the registration tent. Prices are below.

5K Run

  • Adult Online Registration: $40

1 Mile Walk

400 Meter Kids' Race

Refund policy

Since this is a charity event, refunds will not be given.

Weather policy

This race will take place rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, we reserve the right to cancel the race and all updates will be made on our home page: luriechildrens.org/runforgus.

Beads of Courage

During Run for Gus registration, you will have the option to make a commitment and Carry A Bead in honor of a patient at Lurie Children’s. For an additional $15 donation, you will receive a matched bead set and a pewter TEAM Beads of Courage charm at packet pick-up. Keep one bead as a symbol of your support for a child coping with a brain tumor. Carry the other bead with you during your Run for Gus race. At the end of the race, return the bead along with a personal note of encouragement. Young Associates Board will give these beads and notes to a Beads of Courage members at Lurie Children’s following Run for Gus.

The 5K course is USATF certified (IL-11010-JW) and professionally timed. All 5K participants will receive a timing chip on race day.

The 1 Mile Walk will not be timed.

Gear Check

On-site gear check will be available for all participants.

Prohibited Items

The use of bicycles, in-line skates other wheeled vehicles and dogs are not allowed at the race. Wheelchairs and strollers are OK for use.


Limited street parking is available on Cannon Drive. We recommend the use of the various public lots surrounding Lincoln Park and Diversey Harbor.

Public Transportation

CTA Brown and Purple Lines: Exit at Diversey stop; take 76 Bus east towards Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum; walk to 2430 North Cannon Drive.

Enjoy complimentary food, beverages, music and entertainment for the whole family at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum! Attendees will have access to the entire museum during the event.


Results will be posted on active.com and mychicagoathlete.com.


Participants who raise $100 or more will have a chance to win exciting prizes.

Donations must be turned in prior to race day to count toward eligibility in the "chance to win" drawing. In order to qualify for top fundraising prizes, however, donations must be received by 5:00 p.m. on race day, Thursday, July 26.

In addition to the "chance to win" drawing, prizes will be awarded to top participants in the following categories:

  • Top Male Finisher and Top Female Finisher
  • Top Three Fundraisers
  • Top Fundraising Team
